A little ditty

Yes that's right its a double hammy of musical-ness.
First of all, yay soundcloud:

And second of all: have a short peace of themed music: Peaceful Night (not silent because silent nights are not actually very silent at all but that's beside the point).

Wasting ten minutes

Here's a silly little thing you can do for a dumb laugh.
  1. Select a famous quote, such as "Against logic there is no armour like ignorance."
  2. Paste quote into Google translate.
  3. Change the 'Translate From...' language to something else, like French.
  4. Keep the text in that box (The left one) in the original language, in this case English.
  5. Press the listen button.
  6. Laugh more than you should do at the actually pretty decent TTS attempt.
Some fun languages to use (that don't just say the quote letter by letter): French, German, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Atinlay, Spanish, Czech, Danish and Dutch.

BONUS LAUGHS: Use Translation Party on the phrase first.

Jokey Stuff

I will probably be pulling more jokes from MIT for I am unoriginal and they amuse me greatly.

Some pictures drawn on this new phone

Drawn using Paintrala on a Samsung Galaxy S3. A very nice phone, and big enough to draw comfortably on (coming from he who draws on tiny 3" paper scraps). It even comes with SketchBook Pro for Galaxy, which is pretty awesome.

Pixel Arting

Or more specifically, that feel when you're so used to making art on a tiny 32x32 canvas, you think the graphics program has crashed when you create a file with a blank white background and resolution larger than your screen. I hate it when I do this.
I also wrote a short script for a comic I should do at some point.

Tuesday, 27 August 2013

Woah - my page views went into double digits on my birthday. Scary stuff indeed. Anyway have an unfinished comic which I'll never finish but pretty much captures my sister's amazing personality again.
this was originally going to be something about spaghetti.

So I had a dream

And I actually remembered some of it, and in an odd segment involving a bunch of random animated characters, a girl who for some reason was called Doyle (which I very much believe is a boy's name) said an odd piece of dialogue. I can't remember the context, but it went something like:
It's that kind of pure logic that makes you wonder how kid's brains work
Which goes to show again how weird I am perhaps.

Gah, I wrote a great short story which I tried to post, but then it didn't work because google chrome.
Moral of this story is look at this. Let's you write a short demo text and have it corrected by a bunch of cool authors and whatnot.

My mind...

...and how it doesn't work.
Why are they called drag queens anyway.
Wouldn't drag king be more appropriate? or not

The greetes game Idea

You play as the protagonist, Rake-it-Rolph, where you clean leaves from your garden being scattered about by Flicks-it-Fenix. And then someone tries to sue you for possible copyright-infringement.

Terraria Modding - Shadow Trails

So today I discovered how to imitate the after-image effect of the shadow armour set in Terraria, without relying on the messy and restricted decompiled vanilla code.

Of course, I can't code too well, so this is my journey and explanation of how I got this thing to work.

Façade Success?

Façade is a very interesting game, where you talk to a couple in their apartment about various things from the point of view as on old friend of the two, and focus of their strenuous relationship.

It's great, and can be played in several ways. At some points its obvious to see that their is some forced linearity as part of the drama and story telling, but for the most part it plays quite well.

Just don't talk about melons.

I found a poster somewhere on my PC I made for a computing lesson. It amused me.

Mood Management in The Sims (3, and also DF)

Mood management in games is something that we are beginning to see a bit more in games nowadays, with prominent examples being The Sims series, and Dwarf Fortress. But the management in and of itself has always been rather unconvincing. Maybe a Sim has just watched a loved one die in a freak accident as a result of their house burning down, but is still in a relatively good mood due to the fact that they have recently brushed their teeth, eaten a great meal and sat in a really nice chair. Of course in the real world, that wouldn't really make much sense, but why doesn't it make sense?

Programmer: What say you, play tester, upon the marvelous workings of my code

Beta Tester: I hath spotted an erroneous behaviour in thine program!

Programmer: Hah, thy ignorance knows no bound for it is not a bug, rather the contrary, a feature.

Beta Tester: In such a case I suggest thee remove thine feature, for it bugs me no end and that's a fact.

Programmer: What a load of codswallop!

Some more stuff

May be worth making a gallery, or just a more useful way of posting these pictures rather than here there willy nilly like this.

Oh well.

Also music.

Tuesday, 16 April 2013

Just for the sake of visual humour, but of course black cats in some places are generally considered good luck, such as Great Britain or Japan, and some cultures see no problem in them. For this let's just say the man is a very superstitious South European or something.

Messing around again

Made an interesting and suspenseful opening theme for some orchestra piece I'll probably never finish that somewhat resembles a piece I heard from a while back that was probably by some romantic era composer.

It's also funny because it stops before the good bit, just like a demo.

This is quite interesting. Both as a fan of kinetic typography, and Stephen Fry.

These are from a while ago, and I'm still making a 3D Setpiece, but in the meanwhile here are some sketches from my 3DS a while ago.
also here is a preview of what I'm working on.

The NI Tank
Put simply, the Russians put a large metal box with whatever guns they had lying around on a tractor and sent them off to help fight Germans in the early parts of the war. Their unusual design, armoured exterior and extremely loud engines basically meant they caused German infantry to fire fruitlessly and retreat in fear while they chugged along at a ridiculously slow pace. And towed away 24 German guns.

Exams a'comin up!

Hooray. Also not sure if New Years resolution is to beat the amount of posts I did last year, or learn Japanese or something.

Also exams. Everyone loves them.

...You can tell what's been going through my mind recently can't you.

Definitely not the fact that people have exams coming up in less than a week.

British Education

When I was but a wee laddy (at the tender age of 8) I realised that when classmates counted time, they would always start at one, yet whenever I used a stopwatch (or my handy timer on my do-everything watch), a full second would go by before counting the first second.

So I approached a teacher during a science lesson where timing things is inevitable, and posed the question,
"Sir, if the stopwatch only goes to one after a full second, why doesn't everyone start by counting from zero?"

To which he responded, "Just count from one, everyone else is doing it."
